Bookkeeping and accounting in English

Running a business in Finland is hard enough without doing your bookkeeping in a language you are still learning. We handle the Finnish rules and paperwork, and we do it with you in English.

Peten Tilitoimisto is a small accounting firm based in Siuntio. Everything is handled electronically, so you can be our client anywhere in Finland. You get your own accountant, a fixed monthly fee and over 20 years of experience.

Email info@petentilitoimisto.fi or call 040 222 4764.

What is included

  • Your own accountant – the same person handles your company and knows your situation.
  • Statutory bookkeeping for sole traders and limited companies.
  • VAT returns filed with the Finnish Tax Administration monthly, quarterly or annually.
  • Monthly reports – profit and loss statement and balance sheet, plus help reading them.
  • Financial statements and tax return once per financial year.
  • Advice on bookkeeping and taxation is included in the monthly fee.

What does it cost?

Pricing is based on the number of receipts and invoices. When your business is small, the price stays small too.

  • Sole trader from 69 €/month (0–10 documents per month)
  • Limited company (Oy) from 99 €/month (0–10 documents per month)

The monthly fee is always agreed individually. It depends on your company form, industry, number of documents and VAT filing period. Financial statements and the annual tax return are priced separately, typically 2.5 × the average monthly fee. VAT is added to all prices.

Who we work with

We specialise in small businesses: sole traders and small limited companies. If you have founded a company in Finland and want the accounting handled without friction, you are in the right place.

Many of our English-speaking clients are founders who moved to Finland, freelancers invoicing international clients, and small consultancies. You do not need to understand Finnish accounting law – that is our job.

An accounting firm in Siuntio, serving all of Finland

Our office is in Siuntio, in Western Uusimaa, about 50 kilometres west of Helsinki. We work with clients in the Helsinki capital region – Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kirkkonummi – as well as further afield.

Because everything is handled electronically, your location does not matter. We have clients across Finland, and all meetings can be held online. You will never need to visit our office unless you want to.

Other services in English

Alongside regular bookkeeping we can take on as much or as little of the rest as you need:

  • Payroll – salaries, payslips and settlements, plus the statutory reports to the authorities, pension providers and insurance companies.
  • Company formation – setting up a sole trader business or a limited company, including registrations with the Finnish Patent and Registration Office and the Tax Administration.
  • Closing a limited company – liquidation, or converting the company into a dormant company if you want to keep it for later.
  • Sales and purchase ledgers – we collect the data from your invoicing system and follow up on receivables.
  • CFO services – reporting, interpreting the numbers and financing arrangements for growing companies.

Why founders who moved to Finland choose us

Finnish accounting has its own rules, deadlines and vocabulary, and most of the official guidance exists only in Finnish. The most common problem we see is not a lack of effort – it is that something was filed late or in the wrong register because the instructions were never available in a language the founder could read.

You get one named person who knows your company, answers in plain English and tells you what is coming up before the deadline arrives.

How we get started

1. Get in touch

Send an email or call. We book a short online meeting at a time that suits you.

2. We go through your situation

We ask about your company, how many receipts and invoices you have per month, and which tools you use today.

3. You get an offer

You receive a fixed monthly price by email. No hidden costs.

4. We handle the transfer

If you are switching from another accounting firm, we take care of moving the material. You do not have to manage it yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch accounting firms in the middle of a financial year?

Yes. It is usually simplest to let your current firm finish the ongoing financial year, but you can switch at any time. Check the notice period in your current agreement – it is typically two months.

Does everything work remotely?

Yes. We communicate by email, phone or video call. We can also meet in person if you prefer.

I use Holvi. Can you do my bookkeeping?

Yes. We are a Holvi accounting partner and collect the material directly from Holvi, so you do not need to send anything separately.

Can I submit paper receipts?

Yes. We also offer traditional paper-based bookkeeping. Paper documents carry a separate per-document fee in addition to the base price.

What does the annual financial statement cost?

The financial statements and the annual tax return are priced separately from the monthly fee. The price is typically 2.5 × your average monthly fee, so you can work it out in advance.

Which accounting software do you use?

We use several common Finnish accounting systems and choose the one that suits your company. If you already use a system, we will tell you whether we can work in it directly.

Can you handle VAT registration and other filings?

Yes. We help with registration in the VAT register, the prepayment register and the employer register, and go through with you which of them apply to your company.

Can I follow my own bookkeeping?

If you want, you get your own login to the accounting software. You can then see your profit and loss statement and balance sheet whenever you like, instead of waiting for the monthly report.

Do I need to speak Finnish to work with you?

No. We handle the correspondence with the Finnish authorities on your behalf and explain everything to you in English.

Who is responsible for the bookkeeping?

The company is always responsible for its own bookkeeping and operations. Under Finnish law the board of directors and the managing director are responsible for the financial statements, even when an accounting firm prepares them in practice. We advise and guide you in all questions concerning bookkeeping and taxation.

I am setting up a company in Finland. Can you help?

Yes. We help with company formation for both sole traders and limited companies, including the registration with the Finnish Patent and Registration Office and the Tax Administration.
